Strom Design Studio was recently featured in a conversation with Imara Properties, held at founder Nils Strom's residence in Rebero - a home that quietly reflects the values and aesthetic language of the studio’s work.
The interview explored the experience of building a creative practice in Rwanda, and the evolution of a design philosophy shaped by both Scandinavian form and African context. The discussion also touched on the process of designing the interior of the house - from the considered layout and material palette to the subtle, everyday rituals the space supports.
A key theme was the presence of natural light throughout the home, and the role it plays in shaping the atmosphere across different rooms. Attention to flow, texture, and finish came through as guiding principles, all contributing to a sense of calm and cohesion.
Strom Design Studio is grateful to Imara Properties for the thoughtful feature and the opportunity to share more about the relationship between design, place, and the spaces we call home.
