In July 2024, Sens Magazine — Rwanda’s leading lifestyle publication — featured Strom Design Studio in a seasonal interiors article that explored how small, thoughtful changes can transform a home. The piece, titled “An Interior Designer’s Guide to Bringing the Summer into Your Home on a Budget,” offers readers approachable, design-driven ways to refresh their spaces in line with the mood of the warmer months.
The article is grounded in a conversation with the studio’s founder, who shared both personal reflections and professional insight. Set in a café in Kimihurura, the interview explored the crossover between music and design, the role of natural light, and the emotional value of handmade materials — all central themes in the studio’s work.
“Writing a song is like stepping into a room that you need to fill to make it beautiful—or however you want it to be,” said Ström. “But you also have to leave space and not make it too cluttered, so the music can breathe. When designing a room, it’s that same concept of textures, highs and lows, creating space, and highlighting the parts of a room that you want.”
The piece highlighted practical yet atmospheric ways to embrace summer in the home: introducing floral prints or tropical greenery, rearranging wall décor with artisan crafts, and using natural materials like rattan, sisal, or raw wood to bring warmth and texture indoors. These elements reflect the studio’s ongoing exploration of how simplicity and softness can work together to shape a grounded, elegant environment.
“Working in a Rwandan context is particularly interesting,” the founder noted, “because culturally symbolic practices like pottery and weaving already imbue interiors with an artistic and creative essence.”

The interview also touched on something fundamental to Strom Design Studio’s philosophy — the power of natural light to shape a space and enhance wellbeing. “Even the smallest shift in light can transform the mood of a room.”
From soft updates to outdoor spaces to rethinking how your walls reflect personal stories, the article captured a holistic and warm approach to interior design - one that balances beauty with accessibility, creativity with comfort.
We’re pleased to be featured by a Rwandan publication that celebrates creativity and thoughtful living.
